The inside of the cup shows a text message sent to a friend about being lost. He’s lost in the woods and is looking for help. He runs into a couple of people thinking he could help him. Little does he know they’re having a party and he’s going to be their dinner.

Playing with my fascination with dark humour, my goal was to make something visually appealing and humorous out of surrealist and dark ideas.

“Jungle party” was carefully crafted out of stoneware clay using the handbuilding technique known as slab-building. The clay is then folded in a way that compliments the illustration as the folds almost mimic the texture of paper creating a lively doodled-on effect to the overall look of the piece.

“Jungle party” can be used as a cup, small vase or a pen stand. This series of small ceramic pots are multi-functional to suit all your decorative needs. This stoneware piece is decorated with under-glaze illustrations and then finished with a transparent glaze and fired to 1200 degrees.
